Python Workshop Series: From Fundamentals via Data Analysis and Visualization to Machine Learning (Module III, advanced)
Ready to dive into the world of AI and machine learning? Discover the foundation of AI technology and master the fundamentals of machine learning using Python.
In this module "Machine Learning with Python: An Introduction", you will discover how to build algorithms that learn from data. From supervised learning to neural networks and deep learning, you'll gain hands-on experience with tools like Scikit-Learn and PyTorch. This workshop will empower you to start applying machine learning techniques to your own research challenges.
The module will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to the general concepts of machine learning and data preparation
- Advanced Python syntax critical for machine learning
- Supervised learning with Scikit-Learn
- Neural networks and deep learning with PyTorch
- Outlook on unsupervised and reinforcement learning algorithms
Please bring your laptop and – if available – a dataset that you would like to model in the future.
Please note: This workshop requires good knowledge of Python, as covered in the two modules “Fundamentals of Python” (April 27+28, 2026) and “Python for Data Analysis and Visualization” (May 11+12, 2026). If you have not attended these modules, please contact us when registering so that we can jointly assess whether your prior knowledge is sufficient for participation in this module: pogs@uni-potsdam.de
