Visualization in R

Please note that only members of the PoGS can take advantage of the respective offer of various statistical workshops and statistical consulting.

Introduction to creating meaningful graphics in R. Participants learn how to visualize data using the powerful ggplot2-package instead of base graphics. After learning the ggplot2 syntax this includes univariate and multivariate graphs as well as maps.

Contents

R is a free to use open source alternative to commercial statics solutions like SPSS, SAS, STATA, etc. It is a program, which is widely used in the scientific community, because its scope of functionality is huge and of a very high standard.

Additionaly to the base graphics in R, there exist other possibilites within the programming environment to create graphics. These alternatives provide more options for users in terms of depicting information in a consise and estetic way.

This course introduces the tidyverse-syntax with a focus on the package ggplot2. Pariticipants will learn how to create and refine a multitude of graphs to be able use them in publication. This course is accompanied by exercise sessions, that will help participants to apply their new knowledge directly.
