Basics of science communication

The National Institute for Science Communication gGmbH (NaWik) has been teaching scientists, students and professional public relations workers the basics of good science communication for over ten years.
In the e-learning course "Basics of  science communication" you can strengthen your communication skills. This starts with thinking in terms of target groups and reflecting on your own communicative goals and extends to mastering practical communicative techniques.

Methods

  • 14 modular learning units
  • Integration of animations, videos and various exercises

The e-learning can be accessed online at any time and can be flexibly integrated into everyday working life. You will receive online access to the course, which you can complete independently.
The course content is activated for six months from the time of enrolment. The individual course modules can be continued and repeated at any time during this period. You will receive a reminder before the end of the utilisation period.
Once you have completed all modules of the course and passed the final test, you will be issued with a certificate of attendance, which can be accessed in the respective user account.

NaWiK

NaWik was founded in 2012 as a non-profit limited company. Its shareholders are the Klaus Tschira Foundation and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. The physicist and SAP co-founder Klaus Tschira (1940 - 2015) established the Klaus Tschira Foundation (KTS) in 1995 with private funds. Today, the KTS is one of the largest foundations in Europe. Its three main areas of support are: Education, research and science communication. Its nationwide commitment begins in kindergardens and continues in schools, universities and research institutions. The foundation is committed to promoting dialogue between science and society. The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) fulfils both the mission of a university and the mission of a national research centre in the Helmholtz Association.
